Calvin Cleveland

Calvin Cleveland has worked as a Prevention Case Manager at New York City’s Lower East Side Harm Reduction Center (LESHRC) since 1996. He provides holistic case management services for the agency’s participants, their family members and significant others to help bring stability into their lives, support their goals and meet their needs.

Cleveland’s interest in harm reduction began while attending a three-month Positive Action Peer Education training at the LESHRC. His primary professional goal is to become a program coordinator in the HIV/AIDS/ harm reduction field. Cleveland would also like to open or be a part of a program for gay and lesbian youth of color

Since starting work at the LESHRC, Cleveland has earned two degrees at Tuoro College in New York City; one an Associates in Science, with a major in Human Services, and the second a Bachelor of Arts in Science/Psychology. He also received an honorable discharge from the United States Army.

Currently affiliated with Downstate University Community Advisory Board (CAB) and Lower East Side Harm Reduction Center People Living with HIV/AIDS Advisory Board (PWA), Cleveland also takes time out to take care of his health by going to the gym, skating, enjoying long baths and going to the movies.
