Street Smart Program

Street Smart is a youth-focused HIV/AIDS and STD prevention intervention.  The program consists of ten sessions designed to help youth learn safer sexual practices and reduce their substance use.  The program consists of eight two-hour group sessions, one individual counseling session, and one visit to a community-based organization that provides healthcare.

Topics and skills addressed in the group sessions include coping and negotiation skills, assertiveness, problem-solving, identifying and addressing personalized risk behaviors, decision-making and reducing harmful behaviors including drug and alcohol use.

With support from The New York Community Trust, LESHRC is thrilled to begin offering this program beginning May 2011.

If you are between the ages 18 to 29 and are interested in participating in this program please contact Sadat Iqbal at (212) 266-6333 ext. 106 or email sadat@leshrc.org
