Overdose Prevention
Drug overdose has been a significant problem in New York State for a long time.
On April 1, 2006, a new public health law took effect making it legal in New York State for non-medical persons who have successfully participated in an Opioid Overdose Prevention Program training to administer an opioid antagonist (Naloxone, also known as Narcan) to another individual to prevent an opioid/heroin overdose from becoming fatal.
Our overdose prevention program features overdose response training and access to Narcan/Naloxone. By the end of the training, individuals will be able to identify risk factors for overdose, recognize signs of an overdose, perform techniques to stimulate someone who appears to have overdosed, correctly perform rescue breathing, and correctly administer Naloxone.

This informative training can reverse the affects of an overdose and save lives!
